fuuglay I have this horrible habit of reading everything I click on all the way through. Whole series I don`t particularly like because, they might get better. They never do, but I like to make the effort.

I`m also very nice and never send flames because they could be 12 or it could be their first fic, or maybe they had a really good idea and it didn`t end up working but at some point it was really nice.

The idea of the ugly side of fiction was tossed around but we never really got around to it. Probably my fault. In anycase I was messing around with the site, then I got distracted watched buzzcocks, read some fairly stupid fic, some more stupid fic, and then one of the worst pieces of fic I have ever had the misfortune to click on and then read far too much of. I was willing to leave it alone as I first started to read, then it got worse, followed by stupid. I was willing to over look the mistakes, I`m sure I`ve typed your instead of you`re and not noticed, ask anyone, I can`t spell worth a damn. Course that would inspire me to find a really good beta before posting an epic but that`s just something I would do.

Then it got worse. Then I couldn`t handle the stupidity anymore and I was about to leave it and never return when I saw the most astonishing thing. Positive reviews. Positive reviews tricking others into reading.

I have been to fanfic.net (remember when it sucked less?) so I am well aware of the weird insular world of tweens writing anime fic and then squeeing about it BUT I was on what I thought was a proper archive. So I decided in an effort to fight against useless positive reviews the blanket fort`s 'we can`t believe they wrote that and someone encouraged them for more' section is up for business.

Xovers are tricky business. Knowing your slashdoms well enough to write all the characters correctly and figure out how they would react to each other. Some slashdoms were made for each other. Geeky anthropologists, Krycek and anyone. Any series Nicholas Lea has ever been on really... Course other times improbable mixings end up with the most wonderful results so diving in and trusting that Supernatural would work with Torchwood can leave you with a whole new perspective on xoveriness.

For the good xover can be a thing of beauty. After enough canon pairings you just need Methos to swoop in randomly `cause he`s good looking. A bad xover on the other hand is one of the worst things you can do with fic. Truly.

To demonstrate the pitfalls of bad fic, and bad xover fic in general I bring you fic even I couldn`t read all the way through without fixing up as I went.
